What you get
Code validation
The LEI is checked against ISO 17442 before any lookup runs, so a typo is caught at once.
Registration status
Issued, lapsed or retired, with the next renewal date. A lapsed LEI means the data has not been confirmed recently.
Ownership chain
Direct and ultimate accounting parent, or the reason the entity gives for not reporting one.
Registry and BIC
The business registry and number, legal form, addresses and every BIC mapped to the entity.

Frequently asked questions
What is an LEI?
The Legal Entity Identifier is a 20-character code that identifies a legal entity taking part in financial transactions. It is defined by ISO 17442 and its data is published openly by the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF).
How do I find a company's LEI?
Start typing the company name in the search box and pick it from the list. Every result comes from the GLEIF index, so the code you see is the official one.
What does a lapsed LEI mean?
The entity has not renewed its LEI on time, so its reference data has not been confirmed for over a year. The company may still exist, but the record should not be relied on without checking the registry.
Why is a parent sometimes missing?
Entities report their accounting parent to their LEI issuer. When they do not, they give a reason, such as no known person controls them or the parent is a natural person. We show that reason instead of leaving the field blank.
Does an LEI prove a company is safe to work with?
No. It confirms identity and structure, not risk. Screen the entity and its parents against sanctions lists before onboarding.
