Candex, a US based fintech master vendor working in 50+ countries, lets enterprises engage, track and pay any supplier without setting that supplier up in their own ERP. The buyer sees one vendor record, Candex, and Candex takes on the screening, verification and monitoring of every underlying seller. Candex screens vendors on complead against 3,500+ sanctions, PEP and watchlists from 220+ jurisdictions, refreshed every 15 minutes, including the OFAC SDN and Non SDN lists and the UN, UK and EU lists. Monitoring starts and stops per name through API triggers, and fuzzy matching is set at 80 percent on sanctions lists and 95 percent on watchlists. As told by Laura Otterpohl, Compliance Manager at Candex, October 2026.
The long tail is where compliance goes blind
For a global enterprise, the core suppliers, often the top 20 percent that account for around 90 percent of spend, are vetted and monitored. The long tail, roughly 80 percent of vendors and around 10 percent of spend, is one off providers and niche local contractors. Setting each of them up in the main ERP slows procurement down. Procurement and vendor compliance teams carry the same obligation.
It is also a compliance blind spot. A company cannot do business with a sanctioned entity even for a one off 500 dollar invoice, yet full onboarding for every small vendor creates a burden out of proportion to the spend.
As master vendor, Candex removes that friction for the buyer and takes on the screening, verification and monitoring of every underlying seller, in line with the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, the UK Bribery Act and OFAC rules.
Screening every vendor, and monitoring only the ones that matter
Candex selected complead and integrated the complead Fusion platform to run compliance checks on every vendor and transaction. Names are screened against 3,500+ sanctions, PEP and watchlists from 220+ jurisdictions, refreshed every 15 minutes, including the OFAC SDN and Non SDN lists and the UN, UK and EU sanctions lists. Because the sanctions picture shifts daily, static checks are not enough. The product in use is client screening and ongoing monitoring.
Ongoing monitoring is managed through automated API triggers. Candex starts monitoring a name when the relationship begins and stops it when the vendor is no longer relevant, so the team keeps its attention on active vendors instead of inactive profiles.
Fuzzy matching is set per list type, and even per individual list. Candex sets it at 80 percent on sanctions lists, where a missed true positive carries the highest risk, and at 95 percent on watchlists, which narrows the aperture and avoids unnecessary false positives there.

How it runs today
When a buyer authorises an order, Candex engages the seller and the seller's name goes through complead screening by API. Matches come to the compliance team with the evidence attached, and the analyst decides on every possible match. Once a vendor is active, an API trigger puts it under ongoing monitoring; when the vendor is no longer relevant, another trigger takes it off.
Candex runs complead name screening and ongoing monitoring on complead Fusion, connected through the API, with fuzzy matching set per list. Behind each check: 3,500+ sanctions, PEP and watchlists from 220+ jurisdictions, refreshed every 15 minutes.
In their words
"complead has a user friendly interface and delivers screening results at high speed. Because the interface is simple and clear, our team adopted it quickly and uses it effectively every day, and ongoing monitoring keeps our checks current as the lists change."

What this means for procurement and vendor compliance teams
A master vendor carries the screening duty for every seller it pays on a buyer's behalf, so the number of names grows with every new purchase order. What keeps that manageable is control over what is screened, when, and how wide the net is: monitoring that starts and stops with the relationship, and thresholds set per list. Laura Otterpohl describes the setup in her own words in How Candex automates global vendor compliance screening, and the start of the relationship is in Candex selects complead.
